Speed Networking (years 10-12) - The Innovator's Tea Party
STEM Speed Networking is a free careers event for students in years 10 – 12 who are interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The session will run from 11- 1 pm. Join us on the 28th of June 2025 to meet a specially curated group of Women in STEM Mentors who are all passionate about their fields & sharing their career stories. Students will have ~10 minutes with each of our incredible Women in STEM mentors to sit down and talk before moving on to the next station. Depending on the number of bookings, students may interact 1-1 with each mentor or be in small groups of 2-4.

From Eyes to Glass to Aluminium: A History of Astronomy
The theme for National Science Week 2022 is Glass: More than meets the eye. ICRAR will run a public lecture by Dr Sabine Bellstedt, a dynamic 2021/22 Superstar of STEM and widely-published local ICRAR astrophysicist, to promote and share the history of astronomy from the first people to stare at the skies, to the hand made telescopes of Galileo, to the modern day instruments probing the universe. The lecture will explain how Indigenous Australian knowledge of the night sky was observed and used with the naked eyes, how glass was used to develop telescopes, and how the silicone, which uses sand that is also used to make glass, is now used in supercomputers and radio astronomy.

JWST First Images
Join the International Space Centre to take a deep dive into the first images to be released from the James Webb Space Telescope!
Among the first images will be 'the deepest image of our universe that has ever been taken,' according to NASA administrator Bill Nelson. This means we will be looking at the farthest humans have ever seen before - in both space and time.
Our Astronomy from Space Node Leader Professor Simon Driver secured over a hundred hours on the JWST twenty years ago and he's here to answer all your questions about this historic telescope, along with Dr Sabine Bellstedt and Dr Elisabete Da Cunha, both working with data from the JWST.
General tickets to this special event are $15. A reserved group of special Gold tickets, with pre-event catering and mingling, are also available for $30.
